Pittsburgh Steelers 2021 NFL Draft Tue, 04 May 2021 12:21:17 +0000 Round 1: Najee Harris, RB Alabama

Going into this draft the Steelers knew that they had one major issue and that was the run game. So with the first pick in the draft, why not go with the best running back in the class. Harris is a National Champion and can give Pittsburgh just what they need to get their run game going again. Harris has the size of Derrick Henry but the footwork of Le’veon Bell. This was a great addition to the team and a great way to start a great draft.

Round 2: Pat Freiermuth, TE Penn State

What came as a surprise to some people, the Steelers went and took a tight end early on. This tight end is a very good one however and feels like a great fit for Pittsburgh. Freiermuth, nicknamed “Baby Gronk” plays a lot like Gronk and can block a bit better than him as well. If the Steelers can get Eric Ebron back on track to what he once was as well as this other new addition, it could be a scary sight for teams looking at the Steelers tight ends.

Round 3: Kendrick Green, C/G Illinois

At first glance when this pick came around, I was kind of disappointed that they didn’t take the D3 superstar center Quinn Meinerz. But the more I watch the film of Green, I am starting to see why they took this guy over Meinerz. Green plays a lot like the Steelers old center Maurkice Pouncey and reminds me a lot of the guy. Green can also play just about anywhere on the line, but I presume that he will be used to fill the hole at the center position.

Round 4: Dan Moore Jr., OT Texas A&M

Here the Steelers saw that they needed to replace Alejandro Villinueava. Looking at the board at the time, Dan Moore Jr. was the best available offensive tackle on the board. He is a big and tall guy that somewhat resembles Villinueava’s body. This helps the Steelers offensive line and can be a very good addition.

Round 4: Buddy Johnson, LB Texas A&M

Well, the Steelers replaced their Bud with a Buddy. They lost Bud Dupree in free agency to the Titans but were able to replace him here with this pick, as well as get some depth at the linebacker position. He is a hard working player, as well as a hard hitter, he fits the Steelers stigma very well.

Round 5: Isaiahh Loudermilk, DE Wisconsin

In all honesty I don’t know much about this pick, but the Steelers traded next year’s 4th for him, so they must see something they like in this guy. Noticing a resemblance here, that the Steelers are trying to get players that resemble former players. Loudermilk looks and plays like a younger Cam Heyward. So they may be looking toward the future with this pick.

Round 6: Quincey Roche, EDGE Miami

This right here might be my favorite pick from the Steelers 2021 Draft Class. Roche had been overlooked by his former teammates Gregory Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips. Although those two are great in themselves, being able to get Roche in the 6th round might be the biggest steal of the draft. He is already a great pass rusher and can bring a dominant force to the Steelers defense.

Round 7: Tre Norwood, CB/S Oklahoma

With the Steelers not picking up on Terrell Edmunds 5th year option on his contract, all signs lead to him not being a Steeler next season. So with this pick they went with a guy that can play both cornerback and safety. Presumably he will be playing safety in order to fill that hole.

Round 7: Pressley Harvin III, P Georgia Tech

A draft pick at the very end of the draft and the top punter sitting there, why not the Steelers take him. Pressley Harvin is a 270 pound Punter who was the #1 ranked punter in the draft. This guy is a beast of nature and should be fun to watch at Pittsburgh.

Q: Name three things you would like to accomplish this school year?

A:  1: I would like to achieve straight As. 2: I want to finish the school year on a good note, no drama, no fights with my friends. 3: I want to be as prepared as possible for my sophomore year.

Q: If you could spend one year abroad, where would you go and why?

A:   I would go to Europe. I would travel around in Italy, Germany, Ireland/England, and Poland. I’ve always been interested in Europe, and I want to experience the culture and foods that they make there.
